The voyaguers had a look that stood out and very important jobs. The voyaguers had tons of jobs like
the Avant or Bowman he was the guy who had to tell the Steersman wich way to turn. If the canoe became under attack
by something like a bear the Avant would have to fight it with his paddle. then the Governail or the Steersman is the
one in the back of the boat who steers and says the pace for the middlemen. Then there are the Middlemen these people
are the power of the canoe. They would paddle all day taking breaks along the route. The Solo was the person
who usually sat near the back and lead the canoemen in a good song. The apperance of the canoemen was very distintive. You
could see there big bulky muscles and their usually dirty cloths , with the exception of leaving home, returning home , arriving
at Grand Potage and leaveing Grand Potage. They wore big baggy pants and a trade shirt. They also wore wool sock and a took
wich is a type of hat with a little piece of silver called a trade silver on it. The trade silver was for if they got hurt
and had to stay with the Native Americans. They voyaguers also wore a waistcoat to support there back and they wore a
pipe , a pipe pouch and very long Moccascins that ran up to there knees. So in conclusion they had a very distictive job and
outfit.
